monday.

nine patch.
apple core flavored.
striped style.

I began with that template.
I think I will do a FEW more
and then call it quits.
Maybe I'll be able to get enough for a
table runner.
I used my machine to piece these.
Wow! tricky...tricky!
Getting those points to match up didn't happen this time!
Hand piecing them will probably yield
better results!!....I hope.
I've seen whole quilts using this template!
Now I really appreciate their effort!!
What are you working on??

  1. It looks really dramatic with the stripes. I wonder those old quilts were hand pieced! I don't know if I can even attempt what you are doing. so... BRAVO!

  3. Fun! I really love it with the stripes. Guess what? I might even get to sew today! Audra needs a bag for her "church stuff", rather than a loud, crinkly grocery bag like she wanted to take last night. So, she and I might work on that. If not today, then Thursday :)

  4. I like how this block looks in the striped fabric. Great idea! I can see that the piecing would be time consuming.

  5. Love the apple cores...I was wondering how they would go together by machine!

  6. Beth, those apple cores look great in the stripes! Can't wait to see how you finish it. Good luck with the piecing...it doesn't look easy ;-)

  7. Funny - I just took apart a whole (very dilapidated) apple core quilt to try to salvage for a friend. Didn't know what the pattern was called then, but the whole thing was hand-pieced and hand quilted. You can check out my blog for my to-do list for the week - way too much to list here but I'm busy busy busy!!

  9. The stripes work so well with the applecore shape! I made a table runner with applecore pieces and it is much faster to handpiece them... or at least that's what I've found.

  10. Neat apple cores- in stripes! My daughter just said that she is drawn to stripes, so I brought her over to see your current fun!
The apple core is cool, I imagined it would have some difficult challenges with its curves and points. Good job, Beth!

  11. i think you are very brave for attempting that block! my hat is off to you! you could always make it into a doll quilt if a table runner is too daunting. :) i LOVE the stripes. very fun!

  13. Aaaa... curves! I love the look of them, but I think I'm alergic to them.
I'm working on getting "caught up" enough with life and such, that I don't feel guilty sewing. =)
