Snippets

The last few days have been full!
Made a little bag at the very last minute for a friends birthday. That's when I usually get things done. ;)
The hand quilting didn't take very long at all and adds so much.

Worked on a knit dishcloth for my daughter as we drove all day for a short visit. Busy hands helped the miles go by.
She lives in a beautiful part of Northern California.
One highlight was a visit to a farm.

Lots of vegetables and flowers. Oh my ! I love country living!

I even snagged a recipe from my daughter's friend.

Mmmmm......
This Dutch oven recipe has me intrigued!
Gotta love fresh baked bread!

Pink please

Here's A teeny tiny sweater knit up during the last few days as I sat with company.
It was nice to have handwork as we visited together.
The sleeves are short mainly because I had only a partial skein of pretty soft pink yarn!
I like the short sleeves. :)
Don't you?

Pattern for this was based on the 5 hour baby sweater free pattern on ravelry.
No. I could not finish in 5 hours.
Nothing close to that !

A new friend

A new friend arrived this week.
I'm spending some time getting to know her as sew up little stars. ;)
It will take lots of little stars to make a quilt.
Lots of time to get "Friendly" with my new to me machine.
I'm still trying to process the fact that my third child is now married!
Sewing will help my mind wrap around the fact that I'm not 20 something years old anymore and my kids are! :)

Wedding work

My daughter's wedding is Saturday.....so I thought is pull put the unfinished wedding quilt and add some rows. ;)

It takes the whole floor to work on this baby!

I'm thinking happy thoughts as I sew.
I'm gaining another super son-in-law.

Counting my blessings today.

Wedding quilt will not be complete by Saturday.
It'll get done when it's done....
And that's o.k.

After all....
There have been other wedding things to work on.

Center pieces (43!)

Backdrop.......

The list goes on.

I'll sew just a little bit more and then I'm going to soak up all the festivities!

Be back soon with pictures!

Simple pleasures

This week, my simple pleasure is a new-to-me thread shelf.  I'll be admiring all that color as I work!
Spools of thread have a special appeal to us, don't they?
What is it about them we love???
I can't put my finger on it.
Maybe you can.  ;)

Cozy camping quilt

Yeah! My cordoroy camping quilt is d.o.n.e.
I highlighted the vivid blue with yarn and binding.

The only turquoise blue cotton I had for binding has polka dots. It works.
Flannel back was found at the thrift store (my favorite store) and seems to mimic one of the printed scraps of cordoroy.
They were meant to be together. ;)

Believe it or not, the bag of cordoroy scraps is still full!
Guess there'll be more camping quilts in my future!

Weaving in the wild

One of the great things about a table loom is the fact it can travel! No electricity is needed. Weaving is a soothing activity and weaving as the birds chirp make it one of my favorite camping downtime activities!

I packed my strips of fabric And my loom.
IF the car is full of camping stuff....adding a loom can be a challenge.  ;) wink wink
I included whatever scrap came out of the bag and am quite pleased with this one!
It's 11" by 50". Long enough to add lots of color!
Just listed it in my etsy shop. :)

Summertime fun

I have a knight in shining armour. My camping trip lacked one very small.....important item.  A sewing machine needle.  ;)
Once my knight arrived.....needle in hand.....
I was able to sew cordoroy scraps together. This is my second camping quilt.  Using cordoroy and a flannel backing with NO batting makes the PERECT camping quilt!
I used lots of old cordoroy including a couple of old wrap around skirts. When were those popular?
Clothes at the thrift store make the most interesting quilts !

My trip is now perfect!
I was able to sew!

I've got about one more week of perfect weather, happy kids, and peaceful days.
Lots to be thankful for!

Nothin'

I've been doing a whole of nothing these days.
Watching the clouds float by.
Eating. ;)
Knitting by the pool......
While I watch the munchkins swim.
I'll check in here again when life speeds up.
For now.....
I'm enjoying this slow summer.
Life is uncomplicated when you're camping!
